Texas State Dialogue Series
Each semester Philosophy and Religious Studies faculty, majors, and philosophy graduate students from the Master of Arts in Applied Philosophy and Ethics (MAAPE) program and the Engaged Ecology Initiative choose a new set of eight or nine topics and design an interdisciplinary series of lectures, interactive presentations, and discussions around them. The topics often involve applied philosophy and are selected on the basis of general interest, intellectual and moral import, and relevance, with the goal of enabling students and other participants to connect controversial issues with their philosophical and religious roots and to practice difficult conversations across differences in starting points. Additionally, the Engage Ecology Initiate hold a talk each Friday at 12:30pm focusing on issues concerning the environment, ethics, and indigenous issues.

Engaged Ecology Library Talks
Every third Monday of the month, starting in September 2025
Our world faces unprecedented environmental challenges, from alarming biodiversity loss to the urgent threat of climate change. Tackling these issues demands a new mindset that prompts us to question our beliefs, values, and our very place on Earth. Through the lens of Engaged Ecology, we view the relationship between humans and nature as a collaborative partnership. This perspective emphasizes empathy, reverence, and care, guiding our actions and choices toward the natural world.
We invite you to join us in exploring our place on Earth. Our monthly dialogues feature readings, deep listening, and meaningful conversations designed to inspire personal and collective transformation.
